Sonoma is over the hill from us, twenty-odd minutes across the Carneros side, and it is a genuinely different town from Napa rather than a version of it. The housing stock leans Spanish revival and adobe-influenced, the historic core around the plaza is tightly regulated and beautiful, and the properties spreading north up the valley get large and rural quickly.

We cover the city of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley. Further into Sonoma County — Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Healdsburg — is a different market and a long way for a December service call, so we would rather be straight about that than overpromise.

What Sonoma properties need

  • Plaza-adjacent historic homes. Adobe, board-and-batten and early Victorian around the plaza and the surrounding blocks. Thick walls, deep-set windows and heritage fabric mean nothing gets fastened into the building — we work from gutter lines, existing structure and landscape.
  • Spanish revival and Mission-style. Stucco with clay tile, arched openings, wrought iron. These homes are made for warm white light and terrible for anyone who wants to walk a roof. Perimeter method throughout, with arches and entries picked out by hand.
  • Ranch and vineyard properties up the valley. Toward Boyes Hot Springs, Agua Caliente and Glen Ellen the parcels get big and the buildings sit back from the road. Displays go landscape-led — the approach, the fence line and the oaks do more work than the roofline.
  • Tasting rooms and plaza businesses. Sonoma’s plaza trades hard in December. Frontage, window lines and entry detail matter more than roof runs, and install timing has to work around opening hours.

Being honest about being an out-of-town company

We are based in Napa, not Sonoma. That is worth saying plainly, because it has two practical consequences you should weigh:

  • Scheduling is batched. We run Sonoma installs on grouped days rather than one-offs, which means slightly less flexibility on exact dates than a Napa customer gets.
  • Service response is good, not instant. If a run goes dark in December we will still come out, but you are twenty-five minutes away rather than ten. For most homes that is irrelevant; for a business with an event that night it is worth knowing.

What does not change: the same custom-cut commercial-grade lighting, the same tile-safe method, the same included takedown and storage, and the same person quoting and installing.

Common questions

Do you really come over from Napa?
Yes — it is about twenty-five minutes over the Carneros side, and we run Sonoma work on grouped days. We would rather tell you that up front than pretend to be a Sonoma company.
Do you cover Santa Rosa, Petaluma or Healdsburg?
Not currently. Those are properly into Sonoma County and too far for the in-season service we want to be able to promise. The city of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley are our line.
My house is historic. Will you fasten anything into it?
No. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into any home, and on heritage fabric we are stricter still — gutter-line clips, existing structure and landscape-led design only.
I have clay tile. Is that a problem?
It is common in Sonoma and it is not a problem, provided nobody walks it. We install from ladders around the perimeter and design around ridgelines we cannot safely reach.
Can you light a long driveway or fence line?
Yes, and on valley properties it is often the best money spent. A lit approach reads from the road in a way a distant roofline never will.
Is there a travel charge?
No. Sonoma pricing is the same as Napa pricing. The trade-off is batched scheduling rather than a surcharge.
Do you work with plaza businesses?
Yes — frontage, window lines and entry detail, installed outside trading hours. Commercial work is quoted per property.
Is takedown included?
Yes, on every install. January, labeled and stored, no separate removal fee.
